About Ethamolin® (Ethanolamine Oleate) Injection 5%

How Ethamolin Works
Ethamolin was approved in 1988 under a fast-track approval process as an Orphan-status drug and a new molecular entity.
Extensively studied, it has been found to be effective in bleeding esophageal varices.
Ethamolin acts primarily by irritation of the intimal endothelium of the vein, producing a sterile dose-related inflammatory response. This results in fibrosis and occlusion of the vein. Ethamolin also rapidly diffuses through the venous all. This results in a dose-related extravascular inflammatory reaction.
